A soulful singer and a surreal evening

It was one of those evenings I wished to wrap it all up as soon as I could and hit my sack. Well quiet understandably the escape route wasn’t going to be an easy one. Considering the fact that it was the sun down event of a half a week long brand summit I was participating in. A few awkward moments and a good strong drink later the urge to escape was subsiding. Yet I was a tad unsure the mild intoxication could hold me in that place for long. The sound of the sea waves hitting the rocks by the beach of Kovalam and the breeze of wind blowing across was helping me calm down and sink in to the surrounding. Just then an unknown, unheard artist came on the stage. It was a band comprising of a vocalist and a music mixer AKA DJ. It was only a matter of time before the soulful voice of the vocalist signing some of the best indie classics, sufi songs and ghazals filled the open air gathering. I could feel the music slowly growing on me. Well it wasn’t me alone, a careful look ...

Mystical Music Awakens The Dormant Soul

Image Credit: https://www.facebook.com/AghorMusicMystics Let’s make the life bestowed upon us worthy, every second of it. These moments which you call the present today, will just be memories tomorrow. #LiveNow These were the lines I penned last Friday when I was watching a band called Aghor playing live at Bak Bak Bar . These Score Nights gig have slowly started becoming a part of my Friday night routine. Guess as long as the entry tickets are priced within my affordable budget they would continue to stay a part of my routine.

Lasting Memories Of A Sunday With Lagori !!!

There are Sundays, there are good Sundays and then there are the ones which make us exclaim ‘what a great Sunday!’ Well it was definitely one such Sunday which deserves to be called ‘What a Great Sunday!’ It had all the perfect ingredients, beginning with preparing the breakfast with the person I love the most in my life and ending with a memorable musical gig by Lagori  at the  Souk On The Move event in Bangalore. "You haven't really lived your life, Until and unless you have enjoyed it, Enjoyed it despite the shortcomings, Enjoyed it despite its imperfections."

Awakening Of the Inner Self!

It was yet another  Friday  or billions of earthlings. May be it was a mundane day ahead for some and exciting for others. An exciting day ahead for the ones who were certain of the joy to be unwrapped the next day, the weekend. Well, in my case it was the former. Blame it on being one amongst the many who work on Saturdays.

Mystical! Magical! Numinous! Or Simply – “Music!”

Many years ago I heard a song called “Dooba Dooba” by a band called “Silk Route”. Didn’t know who was the lead singer then, but his voice made a distinct impression. As I sit comfortably in my cushioned chair to share my thoughts I’m listening to Mohit Chauhan on MTV Unplugged! Amazing musician, his music brings a breeze of fresh air, mountain air to be more precise. He has a soulful voice. His music lightens up the whole mini world of mine. Music has always occupied a large part of my life. Although I’m terrible at singing and I don’t know to play any instrument. Listening to music has always given great high. I’m sure many would agree to its magical, mystical and intoxicating effect. When I’m with music, I’m never alone. Music has been my companion, during my not so long, yet not so short walk back home from office.   It’s an amazing feeling, walking on the crowded street with music in my ears. Deaf to the noise and chaos of the world, I feel the high as i...

A Sunday To Remember!

“Sundays come Sundays go, Signalling the end of the weekend Pessimists sulks in the agony of Monday blue An optimist rejoices, sinks deep and enjoys the Sunday” Sunday the 07 December 2009 was indeed a day I had not foreseen to have fun, but boy what a Sunday it turned out to be. My Sundays are usually the same, no different from the previous ones. But the last few weeks I had sensed within me certain welcome changes from within. Yet I had not planned anything different for this Sunday of mine.  I was casually sitting on my bed, post breakfast reading the Sunday Times. A phone call from a close friend changed it all. He gave me an hour to get ready and reach his place, for what awaited me after reaching there, the events I became part of subsequently changed the way my Sundays usually are. Well before I proceed further let me tell you all, I don’t propose that my Sunday was better than anyone else’s in the world. But to me it was special because I found myself being genuinely happy and...
