Trust, deception and betrayal

Sanjay seemed to be in a hurry to get to work. He searched for his mobile phone to check if there were any missed calls and found it had been switched off.  He was having a severe headache, blame it on the hangover. To top it he had failed to wake up early again. He cursed himself for getting back home late from the party last night. He switched on his phone and shoved it into his pant pocket. He shut the door with a bang and rushed down the stairs. He hired an auto and was on his way to office when the mobile phone rang. It was a call from an unknown number. He received the call nevertheless. The next few minutes he seemed to have gone numb. His voice choked as he asked the driver to take him to Swaraj park.

Floor Number 13

He saw her standing by the elevator, wearing a long black overcoat. She looked worried and he wondered why? What was bothering her? She then looked at her watch. It was already 6:12PM and she knew he might have already reached home. What will she tell him? Where had she been? She was now clearly anxious and could feel her heart beat getting louder. The elevator door slides opens. In a hurry to get in, she accidentally drops her purse. Before she could realize the doors close. He dashes towards the lift. He bends down and picks up her purse. The elevator door opens again. She sees the stranger from the store in a long black overcoat same as hers. He gets in and gives the purse back to her. She doesn't thank him. She doesn't smile. He wonders why but then refrains from asking. She gets off on the 13th floor. He gets off on the 14th floor. Just then he hears a gunshot & a loud scream. Was it her? All you ever wanted to be is free, To speak unmindful of outcomes, To be shamelessly truthful, But now you are none of these.” Karan reread the lines he had penned in his diary the previous night. A frail smile appeared on his face. He then walked out to the balcony of his apartment and lit up his fifth cigarette for the night. As he exhaled the smoke, he stared at the empty street. He took another drag, as he let go the smoke he drifted into a flash back of a sort. All the events that transpired during the day flashed in front of his eyes.

Until We Meet Again !!!

Image courtesy of FreeDigitalPhotos.net Avantika sat on the corner table gently rolling the golden liquid inside the glass. She gulped another sip of Highland Park, her favourite single malt whiskey from the glass. She lifted the glass in air and kept staring at the light through the glass. She gently placed the glass on the table and kept staring at the glass absentmindedly. It was the only day in the entire year she ever drank alcohol.

The Angry Dragon Within !

He was standing on the road side wiping off the sweat on his forehead with his left hand and blood was dripping off the iron rod in his right hand. He was shouting aloud looking at the corpse lying on the ground, “I told you don’t argue with me.”

Confession Of Love ......

The sun was going down; the sky was looking nothing short of an amazing piece of art with kaleidoscope of colours. They sat next to each other staring at the sun as it set. The evening breeze seemed to be playing with Chandani’s hair as they fell on her face. Rajiv gently moved her hair with his wrinkled hands to view her pretty face.

He picked up his iPhone lying on his desk and casually looked at the name being display. It was Sushmita, he received the call and said “Hello honey!” Sushmita sounded scared and petrified as she said, “Rohit, please come home. Please, I’m scared; I guess someone has broken into our house.” Rohit was about to ask her to calm down when the call got disconnected.
